Brightidea Product Release Notes - October 16th 2013

In the past several weeks we have made a number of enhancements and bug fixes. These changes will take effect on Wednesday, October 16th 2013, 8:30PM EST.  If you have received these release notes via email, this post may be truncated.

 8.png Enterprise Dashboard Updates!

  • A number of enhancements and fixes have been made to the Enterprise Dashboard (BETA) to improve functionality and make the dashboard clearer.
    • Enterprise Dashboard is now available only for viewing by System Administrators
      • In Enterprise dynamic navigation setup, the dashboard defaults permission settings to "Admin"
      • End users who attempt to access the Enterprise dashboard will be redirected back to Enterprise home page.
    • The dashboard boxes at the top of the dashboard have been updated to the following:
      • Move to the Activity Metrics section
      • Date ranges for Activity Metrics now apply to the dashboard boxes
      • Updated titles and hover-over tool tips provide a clearer explanation of metrics and how they are calculated
    • A quick date range drop down has been added the Activity Metrics section, allowing users to select:
      • Year to Date
      • Month to Date
      • Past 3 Months
      • Past 6 Months
      • All-Time
        • Custom date ranges may still be selected by clicking "Custom date range"
    • The Dashboard now spans the entire page
    • Several metrics have been corrected for improved accuracy
    • Fixed an issue in which large numbers in the Activity Metrics dashboard would wrap incorrectly

 2.png WebStorm Countdown Widget

  • The new Countdown widget allows for an elegant and built-in solution of adding a simple count-down widget to WebStorm pages.


  • Administrators can configure the following options for the Countdown widget:
    • Countdown Widget Title
    • End Date and Time (Select from the Date Selector and hour/minute drop-downs)
    • End Message
    • Once the configuration is set, select the Pencil icon once more to save changes.
  • The widget will countdown to the selected date and time
  • Once the Countdown is complete, the end Message (below) will appear within the widget

  • Turkish characters now correctly save in Enterprise/WebStorm setup banner section
  • Enterprise Footer is no longer a BETA feature and is available for editing in the Design tab of Enterprise setup.

  • Corrected Enterprise Dashboard statistics to correctly reflect Enterprise data
  • Resolved IE8 compability issues with WebStorm management in Enterprise Setup.
  • Fixed issue which caused user profile feed to show updates from the WebStorm updates feed in IE8
  • Plus sign now correctly saves when used in Enterprise/WebStorm dynamic navigation
  • When submitting an idea via Enterprise Post Idea, the campaign selector now correctly says to select a campaign
  • Fixed an issue in which the login history export contained an incorrect column
  • Embedded video links from YouTube now appear correctly in Activity Feeds
  • Resolved issues with Idea Voting History export not generating correctly
  • Foreign characters are now supported for Enterprise and WebStorm banners



  • Made a number of fixes and enhancements to the Phase Widget (BETA):
    • Added date validation to Phase widget so that dates occur in chronological order
    • Fixed an issue in which the Phase widget would not appear in some pages
    • Fixed several UI cross-browser issues
  • Fixed an issue in which creating new email addresses for Email Idea Submission (BETA) would not appear correctly.

  • Updated WebStorm Scheduler email templates for improved usability.

  • Relative widget options may now be edited by administrators
    • See example with Updates widget, here.
  • Resolved issues with HTML code showing in email notifications from comments
  • Brightidea's Countdown widget now correctly appears for end users
  • Fixed issue with editing ideas & Idea tags not saving correctly
  • Links for status and category widget now works correctly with WebStorm vanity names greater than 35 characters
  • Ideas report at the WebStorm level now correctly displays foreign characters under the 'title' column
  • Fixed an issue in which idea tags were not correctly removed when editing an idea
  • Fixed an issue in the Blog editor, in which links set to open in a new window would not open correctly
  • Fixed an issue in which text formatting through the idea submission rich text editor would not appear correctly in the final idea view
  • WebStorm Moderators may now see hidden ideas in their WebStorms.

  • Fixed an issue in which text formatting for Admin Comments and Idea Status Change reason would not be reflected in email notifications.

  • Made several small UI enhancements to Switchboard pages for improved usability
  • The Proposal version list is now collapsible
  • Fixed an issue that allowed batch administrators to access Setup area in Switchboard
  • Fixed several permissions issues with Batch Admins, including viewing Switchboard setup and scorecard summary pages
