Meta Keywords and Meta Descriptions in Initiatives

Meta Keywords and Meta Descriptions help your audience find your Public Initiative in search engines.

Meta Keywords

  • Meta Keywords assist search engines in search optimization and correctly categorizing the keywords.
  • Brief and concise terms that capture the important themes of your page are best
  • Delineate each Meta Keyword with a comma, e.g.: brilliant, ideas, collaborate.

Meta Description

  • The Meta Description is a concise explanation of an Initiative's content. It helps define a meaningful description of the page in the event that the search engine is unable to create its own description based on the page content automatically. The majority of search engines highly recommend that the Meta Description be <200 characters of plain text.
  • Additionally, the 'Meta Description' field can be used to leverage Facebook's sharing/embedding tags when promoting your Public Initiative on Facebook.

<meta property="og:title" content="Initiative Name" />
<meta property="og:description" content="Initiative Description" />
<meta property="og:image" content="Image_URL.jpg" />

Configuration

Note: The Initiative must be made Public under Site Setup > Access > Security for the Meta Keywords and Meta Descriptions fields to appear under Site Setup > Site > Basic Info

    Is there a maximum length for the meta description? (or a recommended length)

    Hi Kuhan,

    That field supports a maximum of 500 characters.

    Thank you,
