Installing the App
- Brightidea Mobile is currently available in both the iOS App Store and the Google Play Store.
- Note: At this time, completing Actions Items from Brightidea Mobile is not available for Android. This feature is only available for iOS.
- Note: Your Brightidea Account Manager must enable the use of the mobile application.
- If you are interested in moving forward with fully installing the application within your company, please contact your Account Manager. If you are not sure who your designated Account Manager is, feel free to contact our Sales team.
Mobile Authentication
- Authentication and access are completed through standard login and support systems with Single-Sign-On (SSO) enabled.
Normal Brightidea Email / Password Authentication (non-SSO)
- If your company's authentication is through normal Brightidea email and password credentials- all users are ready to go!
- After downloading and launching the application, the user is presented with the login screen and will be prompted to enter their agency email address used for Brightidea:
- Second, if prompted, the user will need to enter their system's domain name to log in (eg- https://yourcompany.brightidea.com)
- This is nearly always found in the browser address field when logged into the Brightidea system.
- Enter the Brightidea system's domain name (eg- https://yourcompany.brightidea.com)
- If the user does not know the domain name, select Don't Know your Site URL? which will email the user the correct domain name to use to log in successfully.
- Once the domain name is entered, the user will need to input their Brightidea password:
- If the user does not know their password, he/she can select 'Forgot Password' from this screen:
Previously Installed SSO authentication (eg: API, Custom SSO, SAML 1.1)
- Mobile Single-Sign-On (SSO) works only for systems using our new SAML Self-Service SSO implementation.
- Note: Mobile SSO does not work for any previous SSO configurations at this time (API, Custom SSO, etc).
- The Mobile SSO feature does not support any previously installed SAML 1.1 or SAML 2.0 integration Brightidea may have configured before Fall 2013.
- Please speak with your respective Account Manager with any specific questions or concerns.
- If your company has had an SSO installment before Fall 2013, it is not compatible with our mobile application.
- If the user(s) do not know which password to use, they can reset their password via Brightidea setup or via the app itself using the 'Forgot Password?' link.
- Migrating from your current SSO setup requires some coordination with Brightidea's Technical Services team. Please contact our Sales team to learn more about migrating.
- In the meantime, any customer can “trial” the mobile app by accessing it via normal Brightidea email & password authentication.
SAML Self-Service SSO
- Any customer who has set up authentication via our new single-sign-on method is ready to go!
- If you have SSO enabled and Brightidea Login selected on your site, the mobile application will always use SSO only.
- Note: The SSO authentication page must be accessible from the public (outside of your company network) for mobile SSO to work. If the page is not publicly accessible, the mobile device must be connected to the company VPN in order to log in.
- Mobile SSO only works with SP (Service Provider) initiated SSO, it does not work with IDP SSO at this time.
- The mobile application only works with either SSO OR regular Brightidea login; it does not support both at the same time!
- To get started, after downloading and launching the mobile application, the user would enter their email address:
- After entering the email address, select Submit.
- If prompted, enter your Brightidea system's domain name (eg- https://yourcompany.brightidea.com) and select Submit.
- If the user does not know the domain name, select the Don't Know your Site URL? link.
- Note: The mobile application does not support HTTP URLs, only HTTPS.
- On the next page, select Use My Company Log In:
- The mobile application will open the native mobile web browser and redirect the user to the company SSO authentication page where they can proceed to login:
- After successful authentication, the user will be logged into the Brightidea mobile application
Mobile Configuration

-
Mobile Application Link
- This section provides URLs to download both the iPhone and Android versions of our mobile application.
-
Mobile Application Design
- Brightidea wants to make sure your app is reflective of your innovation program brand and your business, so we have given the option to have administrators control logos and branding colors for their users' mobile experience. Learn more about how to do so here.
-
Mobile Application Labels
- This section allows the administrator to edit some of the terminology that appears in the mobile application. To change a label, simply enter desired text in the appropriate field.
-
Mobile Links in System Email Footer
- The administrator can choose to append all emails sent from the Brightidea system with information in the footer area about the mobile application. This provides an effective way of notifying your users that they can participate by using their mobile devices!
Having the Best Mobile Experience
Displaying Initiatives in Mobile
-
To ensure that the desired Initiative displays in the Brightidea Mobile application, please make sure the Initiative is selected to appear in mobile via the Visual Initiative list configuration check-box:
-
Conversely, uncheck the box for those Initiatives that you don’t want to show in the Mobile app.
Idea Boards
- Within the application, all users can swipe through ideas, including images representing ideas.
- While not required for the mobile application, enabling our Idea Boards option in the system will make the ideas pop and more visually appealing. We encourage administrators to review the option so more ideas can grab users' attention.
Notifications
- Notifications are a great driver for users to be engaged within the Brightidea system. We've designed notifications to push to both the web and mobile platforms so anybody can be in the know on anything Brightidea. Explore how notifications can help engage the audience further here.
Visual Initiative List Widgets
- Utilizing the Visual Initiative List Widgets option will give each Initiative more color and distinction by the associated image.
- Note: Brightidea Mobile application will fully respect group restrictions. Any users not in specific groups for respective Initiatives will not be able to view those Initiatives via the mobile app.
Following Ideas, Users, & Tags
- Subscribing to ideas, users, and tags is included as part of the mobile experience. If this feature is not currently enabled, please check it out!
Countdown Widget
- If an Admin adds the Countdown widget on the Initiative page, it will pull that countdown into the Initiative information within Brightidea Mobile. Learn more about how to set a countdown for any Initiative here.
Important Notes:
- We recommend and support only the latest publicly available mobile OS versions.
- Brightidea Mobile can be downloaded from both the App Store and the Google Play Store.
- All administrative tasks must be performed from the non-mobile Brightidea site. The mobile app is intended for end-user participation (Idea submission, Voting, and Commenting).
-
Single Scale, Scorecard, and Review evaluations can be completed through the mobile app.
- Note: At this time, completing Actions Items from Brightidea Mobile is not available for Android. This feature is only available for iOS.
- Chips Voting is not available in the mobile application, only regular promote/demote voting.
- Blog Posts can only be made from the non-mobile Brightidea site at this time.
- Command Center / Dashboards / Pipelines can only be viewed and managed on the non-mobile Brightidea site.

Please see the below article for more information regarding metrics and mobile,

How can I tell who downloaded the mobile app for my company?
Hi Nick,
It's not possible to know who downloaded the application from the App Store. It's only possible to know who logged in via the login history report in Enterprise.
Thank you,Brightidea Support
If you have a Webstorm with additional submission questions, do these additional questions show up in the mobile app submission page?
Hi Damian,
Yes, the extra submission form question(s) will appear on the mobile submit page just like the regular submission form page on the front-end.
Please let me know if you have any other questions surrounding the mobile application.
Best,
Brightidea Support
