As an alternative to using the Homepage for the Hackathon, Admins can enable the Event Site. This is similar to the functionality that is displayed for Idea Box and Memo.
This article details the Administrator view for the Hackathon Team Event Site. To learn more about the Participant view, check out this support article.
Event Site Functionality
- Structured, direct navigation: The UI has been updated to better highlight the most important aspects of managing and participating in a Hackathon event.
- All-in-one pipeline management: Communities and sub-pipelines can be set up to route ideas based on their maturity, subject matter expertise, timing, and other factors.
- Fine-tuned dashboards: Surfaces key site analytics to the entire team to define and understand success criteria and engagement.
Enabling Event Site for Hackathon
The Event Site can be enabled for any Hackathon initiative under Site Setup > Site > General Settings > Enable Event Site View
After it has been enabled, users will be directed to the Event Site page when accessing the Hackathon from any view.
Event Site Components
Dashboard
Running a hackathon successfully depends on data‐driven insights—knowing how many participants you have, where and when they're most active, and which ideas are likely to push your event toward its goals. The Hackathon Dashboard provides a real‐time look at key metrics such as participant counts, team formation, idea submissions, and overall engagement trends, helping you to make timely decisions at each phase of your Hackathon.
Top Projects
The Top Ideas interface allows Admins to surface the best ideas at a glance via several different criteria such as top rated from evaluations, most popular, most active, and even those with the most merit.
Action Items Manager
The Action Items Manager allows System Administrators, Pipeline/Site Administrators and Moderators to manage assigned action items.
Pipeline
Brightidea's Pipeline workflow provides a central place for administrators to build their workflow, collect evaluations and feedback, and manage submissions. The Pipeline Steps View provides a clear interface to control the innovation process from start to finish, ensuring the best submissions advance through to implementation.
New in Hackathon 6: The Pipeline Steps View is now accessible directly from the Hackathon Team Event Site — no need to navigate away from the team page to manage your pipeline.
Quick Setup
Admins can easily edit basic event information from the Quick Setup link like the Event Name, Description, and Site Link.
Scheduler
The Hackathon 6 Scheduler incorporates Brightidea's proven Hackathon methodology to give administrators even greater control over their hackathon events. As with the Initiative Scheduler available for other apps, the Hackathon Scheduler allows Administrators to automate when submission, commenting, and voting start and end and includes enhancements to make it even easier to keep participants informed and engaged throughout the Hackathon event.
Manage Users
Administrators can manage user access to the Hackathon event directly from the Team Event Site via the Manage Users view.
From this view, admins can manage the General Access list, controlling which users and groups have access to the Hackathon event.
- To access this view, select Manage Users from the admin navigation on the Team Event Site.
- Note: If your Hackathon is configured to use the All Users access option, enable the setting for Display All Users to ensure all users are visible in this view.
Ideas List
The Idea List view allows the Pipeline Manager to fully manage all ideas in their Pipeline from the Event Site. The Idea List allows for inline editing to easily update idea fields. Multiple ideas can be selected to take bulk action on ideas.
Edit Pre-Launch
The Hackathon Pre-Launch Page allows Administrators to promote an upcoming Hackathon, display Sponsors and Judges, and allow Participants to register before the event officially begins.
Pipeline Setup
In the Pipeline Setup tab, you can configure the Pipeline's basic information, roles, rules, and templates. See below to learn about the available options.
