What Is the Brightidea MCP Server?
The Brightidea MCP Server connects MCP-compatible AI clients — like Claude — to the Brightidea Innovation Platform. Once connected, you can ask questions, search content, summarize campaigns, draft ideas, generate reports, and manage selected innovation workflows directly from your AI client.
Who Can Use It
You'll need all of the following to get started:
- An active Brightidea account
- Access to at least one Brightidea tenant
- An MCP-compatible AI client that supports remote Streamable HTTP servers
- Brightidea permissions for the campaigns, ideas, reports, or admin actions you want to use
What You Can Do
Common supported workflows include:
- Search ideas, members, comments, blogs, campaigns, and other Brightidea content
- Summarize campaign activity, idea pipelines, and portfolio health
- Draft and validate idea submissions
- Submit ideas when you have permission
- Generate campaign reports
- Inspect pipeline stages, statuses, and bottlenecks
- Manage selected groups, widgets, polls, rules, phase schedules, and site branding when your role allows it
- Preview bulk workflow changes before applying them
How It Works
The MCP server uses Brightidea OAuth for sign-in. After you connect, your AI client sends MCP requests to Brightidea through the hosted server. The server uses your Brightidea session and tenant selection to make API requests on your behalf.
The server does not give the AI client independent access to Brightidea — it operates within the permissions and tenant access associated with your authenticated Brightidea account.
Server URL
Use this hosted MCP server URL unless your Brightidea administrator provides a different one:
https://mcp.brightidea.com/mcp
Note: Local command-based MCP configuration is not supported for the hosted server. If your client asks for a command and arguments, choose the remote HTTP or Streamable HTTP connection option instead.
Important Boundaries
- The MCP server can only access Brightidea data available to your account.
- Some admin and write actions require elevated Brightidea roles.
- Some tools can modify Brightidea data — review results carefully before approving write, delete, or bulk workflows.
- Do not enter passwords, MFA codes, API keys, or client secrets into chat messages or tool inputs.
