Getting Started

To quickly recap on how to create your Hackathon event, navigate to your Apps screen, go to the Ecosystem product group and select External Hack.
- Once there select 'Set Up External Hack Event"
- Fill out your title, description, audience to complete the wizard.
Updating Content
- Once you create your new Hackathon event, you will be brought to your External Hack site home page.
- Here, you can update the site hero image, change your submission form, and update all the customizable widgets on the page.
- Idea boards and browse functions can also be customized, see options here.
- Read through participation and early registration features here.
Pipeline Steps View
- After successfully creating your Hack you will see that it comes with preconfigured stages and steps:
- To navigate there, select "Steps" under the Admin navigation
Project Submission
- Moderation
- Once a user submits a project it will be put into the "Review Submissions" step
- This step comes configured as "Review" tool type
- Evaluators will receive a "Review" action item
- This gives evaluators the opportunity to make edits to the submitted project before it is passed into the "Rate Submissions" step
- Rate Submissions
- After projects pass the "Rate Submissions" step they are added to the "Rate Submissions"
- This step is configured as a "Single Scale" tool type
- After projects are placed into this step, subject matter experts will receive a "Single Scale" action item.
- This gives evaluators the opportunity to rate the Project submissions before they are passed to the "Hack on Projects" step
Hackathon
- Hacks on Project
- This step is designed as a placeholder step where team members will commence working on their approved projects
- There is no tool type configured for this step
- Judge Projects
- The "Judge Projects" step comes configured as a "Judging" tool type
- Judges will receive a "Judging" action item once a project advances from the "Hack on Projects" step after projects are presented (to the judges)
Results
- Select Winners
- The "Select Winners" step is for projects that have been selected as winners for the Hackathon event
- There is no configured tool type for this step
- Administrators can configure a tool type for this step if additional analysis is needed
- Track Business Impact
- The "Track Business Impact" step is for projects to be able to track success post-selection
- There is no configured tool type for this step
- Administrators can configure a tool type for this step if additional analysis is needed
Additional Configuration Needed
Leveraging domain restriction
This configuration change allows administrators to secure their audience by using email address domains. Fully secure other initiatives in the system so public end users can’t navigate to the other internal initiatives, domain restrict each initiative.
To enable:
- Go to System Setup > Access > Registration
- Check Restrict Self-Registration by Email Domain
- Add company domains including brightidea.com
Profile settings :
Disable enterprise profiles and global navigation for users in this initiative. Allows login to show on-site.
- Go to Site Setup > Site > General Settings
- Uncheck Enable Global Navigation on this Initiative
- Check Profiles
And on the initiative level
- Go to Site Setup > Site > Enterprise
- Uncheck Enterprise Profiles
Enable Initiative Terms & Conditions
Allows admins to include T&Cs for external users.
- Go to Site Setup > Terms
- Check Initiative Terms and Conditions
Making Site Public
- Go to Site Setup > Access > Security and select Public for “What type of site do you want?”
- Save Changes
Registration options:
For administrators who want to allow only end users that are invited to register to access the Site/Initiative.
- Go to Site Setup > Access > Security
- Select Admin Invite Only for “Which users do you want to allow to register?”
Inviting Users:
The admin can then configure the registration invites.
Note: For whitelisted emails, end users may not receive the registration request email from the system if the administrator has set registration invite emails.
Secure Login for Initiative:
Enables external users to access the initiative, bypassing SSO authentication.
- Go To Site Setup > Beta
- Uncheck Unified Login
View Idea 3.0
Allows administrators more flexibility and a nicer interface.
- Beta > Enable View Idea 3
