Within Brightidea, users have the ability to communicate with fellow innovators via private messaging - right within the Brightidea system. To get started, Admins must ensure that Private Messaging is enabled on either the System or Initiative levels.
- Private Messaging can be enabled under System Setup or Site Setup > Site > General Settings
Via System Level
- Locate the user you'd like to message and view their profile.
- Select Send a Message, then fill out the Subject and Body fields, then select Send.
- Note: Users can find other users by using the Brightidea Search or by selecting any user's name within the Updates feed, Idea lists, Ideas, and more!


- Brightidea users can see their unread, sent, and previous messages from the User Landing page. They can also send new messages, delete messages, or mark messages as Unread.
- Note: If Private Messaging is disabled, the Messages tab will be removed from the Landing Page.

- Alternatively, users can hover over any Brightidea user's name within the system- whether it be the View Idea page, a global search, or a System-level widget, etc.
- Once hovered, select Message to message that specific Brightidea user:

Via Initiative Level
- Adminis can add the My Messages widget on any page (including the user profile page) at the Initiative level or add the Enterprise My Messages widget at the System level.

Important things to Note:
- Rich text and HTML are not yet supported in private messages
- Private messages respect timezone and date formatting within widgets and on the Brightidea Landing page.
- Private messages cannot be searched.
- Email notifications are triggered using either Initiative or System-level templates
- The template can be edited under System Setup or Site Setup > Site > System Email Messages > Initiative > Private Message Notification
Is it possible to send bulk private messages from a specific user?

How does one send to multiple recipients? (space, semicolon and commas do not work)
And it does say 'Enter Recipient (s)'.

The private messaging feature is designed to only send to individual users. I will have our product team change this to 'Enter Recipient.' Please let me know if you have any further questions. Thanks!
