Hack (Build Prototypes)


Want to easily set up a Hackathon event? Our Hack app is hackathon software to collect project submissions, rapidly build teams, and manage an entire event—all online.

Read below to learn more about this process and how to progress through the pipeline.

Getting Started

  • To quickly recap on how to create your Hackathon event, navigate to your Apps screen, and select the Hack app.

  • Once there select 'Set Up Event"
  • Fill out your title, description, audience to complete the wizard.

Site Home Page

  • Once you create your new Hack event, you will be brought to your Hack site home page.
  • Here, you can update the site hero imagechange your submission form, and more!

Pipeline Steps View

  • After successfully creating your Hack  you will see that it comes with preconfigured stages and steps:
  • To navigate there, select Admin --> Manage Pipeline

  • The Hack backend pipeline configuration consists of the following:
    • Project Submission
      • Moderation
      • Selection for Hackathon
    • Hackathon
      • Hacking
      • Judging 
    • Results
      • Selected As Winner
      • Not Selected As Winner

 

Project Submission 

  • Moderation
    • Once a user submits a project it will be put into the "Moderation" step
    • This step comes configured as "Review" tool type
    • Evaluators will receive a "Review" action item 
    • This gives evaluators the opportunity to make edits to the submitted project before it is passed into the "Selection for Hackathon" step

 

  • Selection for Hackathon
    • After projects pass the "Moderation" step they are added to the "Selection for Hackathon"
    • This step is configured as a "Single Scale" tool type
    • After projects are placed into this step, subject matter experts will receive a "Single Scale" action item.
    • This gives evaluators the opportunity to rate the Project submissions before they are passed to the "Hacking" step
 

Hackathon

  • Hacking
    • This step is designed as a placeholder step where team members will commence "Hacking" on their approved projects
    • There is no tool type configured for this step

 

  • Judging
    • The Judging step comes configured as a "Judging" tool type
    • Judges will receive a "Judging" action item once a project advances from the "Hacking" step after projects are presented (to the judges)
      • Note: This interface is responsive to mobile devices (tablets, smartphones).

 

Results

  • Selected as Winner
    • The "Selected as Winner" step is for projects that have been selected as winners for the Hackathon event
    • There is no configured tool type for this step
    • Administrators can configure a tool type for this step if additional analysis is needed
  • Not Selected as Winner
    • The "Not Selected as Winner" step is for projects that have not been selected as winners
    • There is no configured tool type for this step
    • Administrators can configure a tool type for this step if additional analysis is needed
